OpenLUG stands for “Open Linux Users Group”; or so that was the intent. It has however turned into a very neglected and basic Linux site. I occasionally add tutorials for things people have asked for, but mostly it stays pretty stagnant and ignored. Not many people know it is here; there is also james.openlug.com where a friend of mine occasionally posts tutorials related to GNU/Linux.

OpenLUG.com is also the front end for anything that may be going on with the server. It is only one of many sites running off my server (sitting here under my computer desk along with my workstation, the media server, and a very old web backup server).

My distribution of choice is currently Ubuntu Server Edition 8.04 LTS edition. I have tried to keep my server up to date with the latest available edition of Ubuntu, but it seems no matter how hard I try; when I update the OS I loose the basic function of all sites on board. I think (maybe) that 8.04 will be on here for a while. Keep in mind that I have been known to lie my ass off about things like this, so check back occasionally and see what I move to next (Gentoo is my first love, but with school, kids and life I had to leave it behind and LFS has been on my plate for years).

Take a look around; if you have a question drop me a line. I would be glad to build a tutorial for you if I can figure it out for my self first.
